![]() THE BEACH Exactly what you'd expect from a tropical beach -- the huts open up to a beautiful, white sandy beach. The water is clear, warm and blue, and said beach stretches all around the small island. In fact, it looks like no one's ever touched the beach before -- the sand is clean and clear and doesn't exhibit any sign of human (or sentient in general) life. Instead, all the usual beach-like creatures exist here: crabs, lizards, fish in the ocean, etc. Maybe you can build a sandcastle! THE HUTS Nestled between the beach and the jungle on the southern side of the island is a small circle of huts. They are arranged in a half-circle surrounding the Rules Board, and face the ocean. Most of the huts are pretty plain and damp looking, not as colorful as the rest of the island and don't even look very comfortable to be in. Each room is equipped with two beds, a small table, and two trunks (with no locks) for storing personal items. Looks like you'll be living here. THE LONGHOUSE Off to the side from the huts, and clearly set apart, there's a squat and island-appropriate longhouse. It's nestled up against the jungle, enough so that it's shaded for most of the day. Inside, there are simply long benches along the walls, facing each other, leaving the middle of the room empty aside from a medium sized fire pit. At the far end of the room, there's a bench facing the remainder of the room -- clearly a place for the Chiefs to sit. Next to it, there's a small table, with paper, pencils, and a small box for votes to be cast. THE JUNGLE Behind the huts and... well, everything on the beach, there's a large jungle that seems to take up the other half of the island. The jungle is hot, muggy and filled to the brim with tropical bugs, snakes and Bigger Dangers, but if one sticks to the paths, it seems perfectly safe, at least. THE OASIS If your characters do enter the jungle and stick to the paths, eventually all paths lead to a small clearing surrounding a body of water leading in from the ocean. Completely backed by a cliff and a large waterfall, it seems like the perfect place to take a private swim or have some peace away from the beach area. Perpetually covered in shade and tucked away, the little oasis is cool and refreshing and none of the dangers in the jungle seem to come anywhere close to it. THE HOT SPRINGS From the Oasis, any villager with a keen eye will be able to tell that there's a path leading away from the Oasis and definitely not back to the rest of the beach. If anyone decides to follow it, they'll eventually find themselves heading in the direction of the volcano. Worry not though, even with how warm it becomes as you go, eventually the path will stop in front of a small cave. The cave will open up to what appears to be a hot springs, brightened with natural light with a few wayward vines creeping inside. The air is humid and steamy and once in a while you can hear a geyser go off in the distance, but otherwise, this place seems perfectly safe and open to enjoy. Feel free to take a dip! THE BEACHSIDE CAVERN If your character wanders the beach for long enough, they will discover a small cavern opening into the cliff face. It opens into a simple cave, where the sounds of water splashing against rock can vaguely be heard. Your character can explore as far in as they'd like; eventually, they will come to an underground pool. If they want to go further, it looks like they'll have to swim. THE VOLCANO Off in the distance, on the far northern end of the island, there's a volcano and it's big enough that it can been seen from any point on the island no matter where you are. It sits peacefully, rising out of the jungle and mostly undisturbed aside from a few earthquakes here and there. Regardless, it is an active volcano and any intrepid hiker would be able to tell that there's still hot lava bubbling inside. Obviously if you jump into the lava you'll die, so don't do that. There's nothing else of particular, immediate interest here. THE FLOWER FIELD In the middle of the jungle, following a long, twisting path, characters will find themselves coming out upon a beautiful field of flowers. There are flowers of every type and sort here, even some that are native only to particular worlds or should definitely not be tropical flowers. THE BANANA TREE GROVE Following yet another strange path in the jungle will take characters to a carefully maintained banana tree grove. Looks like bananas can be harvested here from the trees that are in careful, neat rows. Nice! Bananas! |
