The message somehow ends up showing up in a bottle washed up against the shore actually. Which is a pretty weird way to deliver a message but of course, it's thematic. Naturally, it'll only show up when nobody else is around. When walking along the beach, Battler, Fie, Raven, Serph, and Vriska will find that bottle right there, waiting for them. The message Battler, Fie, Raven, Serph, and Vriska receives is short and simple: Need you for something. Come see me this evening. You'll know where to go. - Hal P.S. Put the note back in the bottle. Throw it back. I'll know if you don't. And that's it. Of course, if they choose to listen to their messages, they'll find a mysterious path in the jungle. They'll find the path as if guided to it, even though it won't be there if they try to show it to someone else later. And at the end of the path, they'll find a small hut, tucked against the jungle backdrop and the two Chiefs standing in front of it. Hal greets them with a flat look and a greeting: Sirens. And then he holds out five small notebooks, weather-worn and a little salty. Looks like they've been chosen for one of those roles that were mentioned. Good luck.

A MINOR... ISSUE? UH

[ The first time they all gather as a group again after the weekend's fiasco of a trial, Vriska will briskly jump right in with a: ]

Ok, normally I'd handle this on my own, but since we are a team and I am trying to be a team player, I thought I would ask all of you what you think! I am in something of a situation.

[ She rolls a hand, sighing in a deeply put upon way. ]

Jinah is a nice girl, but she is also a total weirdo and she basically doesn't sleep the way normal humans do! She is up pretty often at night. I've been encouraging her to try and sleep more by pretending to be concerned about her wellbeing, and she trusts me for some reason, so she listens! But I think eventually she's going to catch on that I am disappearing after curfew on Thursday nights. Any suggestions are welcome, because I will resort to just knocking her out if I have to!

[Once they're all gathered together, Raven doesn't hesitate for long. There's much they need to discuss, so she begins by stating what's been on the forefront of her mind.]

So... We've got two choices, basically. We can kill in completely awful ways and save more people, or we can try to make it as painless as possible and let more people die. I don't really think there's a right answer.

[Even if she knows her personal stance on it.]

[ Fie still has one arm over her ribs as she settles down, but she's gotten better at only looking slightly uncomfortable with it instead of wincing. ]

Before we figure out who to target, we should probably agree - as a group - on who not to target. So if you've got anyone, speak up now.

I already told you this, but...

... I think the more people we can avoid killing, the better. It means we won't be able to be kind to the ones we do kill, but murder's murder. Either way, they'll die.

...Pretend to get mad at something she says to give you an excuse to say you're sleeping somewhere else?

[It sounds like she's still thinking, though, because that's a pretty flimsy alibi.]

Can we obtain soporifics?

[ You could just say "ask Pal for sleeping pills," Serph. That's also an option. ]

She is like the nicest person I've ever met, [ she says flatly. ] But choosing to sleep somewhere else isn't a bad idea. I could claim I was doing it for someone's protection and she'd probably believe me.

Drugging her was pretty much my first thought! I would just have to do it consistently, like five out of every seven days to keep it from seeming too unnatural. Plus, it depends on how generous those Chiefs are feeling!

[hydrazine]

Would anyone else believe you, though?

[hypertoxic]

As awful as possible.

[ Said grimly. ]

It will be much worse for everyone's emotional wellbeing, but who gives a fuck about that? Less people will have to die. It will be faster and require us to take less risks!

[varunastra]

I hadn't considered the problem of consistency, but you're right.

[ He asked for chlorine tablets and got a whopping two. If they deigned to provide something, he doubts whether it would actually be enough for regular use anyway. ]

... maybe, [ she mumbles. ] Some of them might. Some of them I could dupe into believing I was scared, if I put on a believable enough act. It's not impossible, but given ... who I am, [ said baldly ] it's unlikely.

Our partners, obviously. If they go, we go. Like I said, Jinah is mine. We should all list our teammates so we know who to leave alone. After that, probably anyone especially useful should stay off the kill list. Lief, Lelouch, and Magilou come to mind.

Haha. She's so trusting she might just leave it alone, but I know I'd get suspicious if I was falling asleep regularly only on Thursday nights! I guess the first thing to do is to ask Pal what he'd be willing to provide me with. It's likely I'll have to complete a kill before either of them will give me anything useful. [ harrumph. ]

[ Because his partner, and also because Raven will crack skulls too. ]

... Why Magilou, though? [ she doesn't dislike Magilou, but... useful? ]

Knocking her out one week could be made to appear as an accident. Repeating it weekly would likely raise similar suspicions, but it might give you enough time to procure something better.

Have you seen her? She can cook. I don't personally give a shit about that, but it might be useful to everybody else.

[varunastra]

[ He's not going into depth; everyone else is explaining the reasons well enough. ]

[ That gets a thoughtful hum out of her. ]

That is not a bad idea. Maybe I can do that this week, and figure out a different plan for the rest of our time here.

[ Loudly, as she turns to face them: ]

Hey Hal, Pal! You two catch any of that?

Mine's Akira. But... There's more than one person who can cook, right?

Hiro and Newt.

[The science brigade must be protected. But, that reminds her of something.]

This is about who we want to trust, not protect, but... I want to tell Bellamy. I wouldn't tell him who's involved other than me, and he won't tell anyone about the group if I ask him not to. He could give me an alibi any time I needed one, though.

[She nods.]

I'm with you there, as much as it sucks.

[hydrazine]

I mean, I care about it, but not to the extent that I think it's more important than saving lives. So... I'm with you.

[hydrazine]

[She gives him a nod.]
