The message somehow ends up showing up in a bottle washed up against the shore actually. Which is a pretty weird way to deliver a message but of course, it's thematic. Naturally, it'll only show up when nobody else is around. When walking along the beach, Battler, Fie, Raven, Serph, and Vriska will find that bottle right there, waiting for them. The message Battler, Fie, Raven, Serph, and Vriska receives is short and simple: Need you for something. Come see me this evening. You'll know where to go. - Hal P.S. Put the note back in the bottle. Throw it back. I'll know if you don't. And that's it. Of course, if they choose to listen to their messages, they'll find a mysterious path in the jungle. They'll find the path as if guided to it, even though it won't be there if they try to show it to someone else later. And at the end of the path, they'll find a small hut, tucked against the jungle backdrop and the two Chiefs standing in front of it. Hal greets them with a flat look and a greeting: Sirens. And then he holds out five small notebooks, weather-worn and a little salty. Looks like they've been chosen for one of those roles that were mentioned. Good luck.

A MINOR... ISSUE? UH

[ The first time they all gather as a group again after the weekend's fiasco of a trial, Vriska will briskly jump right in with a: ]

Ok, normally I'd handle this on my own, but since we are a team and I am trying to be a team player, I thought I would ask all of you what you think! I am in something of a situation.

[ She rolls a hand, sighing in a deeply put upon way. ]

Jinah is a nice girl, but she is also a total weirdo and she basically doesn't sleep the way normal humans do! She is up pretty often at night. I've been encouraging her to try and sleep more by pretending to be concerned about her wellbeing, and she trusts me for some reason, so she listens! But I think eventually she's going to catch on that I am disappearing after curfew on Thursday nights. Any suggestions are welcome, because I will resort to just knocking her out if I have to!

...Pretend to get mad at something she says to give you an excuse to say you're sleeping somewhere else?

[It sounds like she's still thinking, though, because that's a pretty flimsy alibi.]

She is like the nicest person I've ever met, [ she says flatly. ] But choosing to sleep somewhere else isn't a bad idea. I could claim I was doing it for someone's protection and she'd probably believe me.

Can we obtain soporifics?

[ You could just say "ask Pal for sleeping pills," Serph. That's also an option. ]

Drugging her was pretty much my first thought! I would just have to do it consistently, like five out of every seven days to keep it from seeming too unnatural. Plus, it depends on how generous those Chiefs are feeling!

so about that whole mutilation thing

[Once they're all gathered together, Raven doesn't hesitate for long. There's much they need to discuss, so she begins by stating what's been on the forefront of her mind.]

So... We've got two choices, basically. We can kill in completely awful ways and save more people, or we can try to make it as painless as possible and let more people die. I don't really think there's a right answer.

[Even if she knows her personal stance on it.]

So. Thoughts?

I already told you this, but...

... I think the more people we can avoid killing, the better. It means we won't be able to be kind to the ones we do kill, but murder's murder. Either way, they'll die.

[She nods.]

I'm with you there, as much as it sucks.

As awful as possible.

[ Said grimly. ]

It will be much worse for everyone's emotional wellbeing, but who gives a fuck about that? Less people will have to die. It will be faster and require us to take less risks!

I mean, I care about it, but not to the extent that I think it's more important than saving lives. So... I'm with you.

[ He's not going into depth; everyone else is explaining the reasons well enough. ]

[She gives him a nod.]

Then we're all agreed. Cool.

It's messed up either way, but... I think the faster we can get everyone off this island, the better.

[That might be a surprise, considering Battler's attitudes to killing in general, but he's too used to messy awful death to really care as much as he should.]

[ Fie still has one arm over her ribs as she settles down, but she's gotten better at only looking slightly uncomfortable with it instead of wincing. ]

Before we figure out who to target, we should probably agree - as a group - on who not to target. So if you've got anyone, speak up now.

Our partners, obviously. If they go, we go. Like I said, Jinah is mine. We should all list our teammates so we know who to leave alone. After that, probably anyone especially useful should stay off the kill list. Lief, Lelouch, and Magilou come to mind.

[The science brigade must be protected. But, that reminds her of something.]

This is about who we want to trust, not protect, but... I want to tell Bellamy. I wouldn't tell him who's involved other than me, and he won't tell anyone about the group if I ask him not to. He could give me an alibi any time I needed one, though.

We need to figure out who to neutralize this week. And how.

If we want to keep the people who are the most useful around... Maybe we should pick someone we think hasn't contributed much, or done the exact opposite.

Or we could go about it the opposite way and gun for the people we think are most likely to figure us out.

So it looks like we've got the who figured out, so... that leaves the how.

[Battler is so uncomfortable with all of this.]
