The message somehow ends up showing up in a bottle washed up against the shore actually. Which is a pretty weird way to deliver a message but of course, it's thematic. Naturally, it'll only show up when nobody else is around. When walking along the beach, Prussia will find that bottle right there, waiting for them.
The message Prussia receives is short and simple:
Need you for something. Come see me this evening. You'll know where to go.
- Hal
P.S. Put the note back in the bottle. Throw it back. I'll know if you don't.
And that's it. Of course, if they choose to listen to their message, they'll find a mysterious path in the jungle. They'll find the path as if guided to it, even though it won't be there if they try to show it to someone else later. And at the end of the path, they'll find a small hut, tucked against the jungle backdrop and the two Chiefs standing in front of it. Hal greets them with a flat look and a greeting:
Waylayer.
And then he holds out a small notebook, weather-worn and a little salty. Looks like they've been chosen for one of those roles that were mentioned. Good luck.
[ And here is Hal, pulling out an island pipe from his pocket and beginning to pack it with tobacco. Eventually he'll light it up so he can take a nice little puff from it. Pal is also here and he looks displeased by the smoke. ]
[The young-looking woman with the German accent isn't grinning cheerily at the moment. Instead, she just looks disgusted and rather annoyed, carelessly waving the notebook.]
Let's start with the first one. The fuck do I get outta this? You give me some shitty-ass role and expect me to just what, play along for the hell of it? Don't see how this gives me any kinda advantage in your stupid game.
[They've built statues to her charm you know!! Also to her heroism, so good work, Pal.]
Well when you put it that way.... Wait, no!! I'm not just accepting this!! Maybe I don't got anyone to protect, and I can only protect myself every other week. That's dumb!
I at least want like, an awesome diary or something for doin' this for you.
And a pencil! I won't be fooled by you guys and your stupid rules and shit.
[She crosses her arms and taps one foot impatiently against the ground. Wow she's smart. What's the point of an awesome diary if she can't write in it??]
I want it in my hut by the time I get back tonight, just like what you did with the clothes.
Anyway I know why you guys would want someone cool like me in your stupid game, but what's with the prissy aristocrat?
Hey, lucky for you guys, I totally match that description. There's nobody more fun than me!
[No.....]
Anyway, I'm gonna look out for Newt's group this week. Since you said I can't do the same pair twice in a row, right? Erhard's out, so it's gotta be Newt.
Now!! No, wait, later. Yeah, later. I'll ask you guys about it tomorrow, you can give it to me then. That way my cute little birdy of a roommate isn't wondering why I got an extra present without asking for it.
Speaking of my cute little birdy of a roommate, how much can you guys hear? Like, if I'm talkin' real quiet in my hut, can you hear us? And don't lie!! I can smell lies!
[Nebulously after Lief told Prussia about his and Jacopo's harebrained scheme but before they leave to actually do it-]
I'm breaking Laphicet and Jacopo this week.
[Gone is the smart grin, the false camaraderie. If anything, she looks like a soldier for once; her accent is crisper, too, cooler and sharper to match the line of her lips.]
